More people dumping house trash in city bins

Home trash in city litter bins is really piling up — and this year, scofflaws have been largely getting off scot-free.

The number of $100 fines issued for illegal dumping of residential garbage in street bins dropped by 78% in fiscal year 2013, which ended June 30, city records show.

The number of trash tickets doled out declined to 922 from 4,185 in fiscal 2012.

The Sanitation Department said the huge drop happened because the agency’s cadre of enforcement officers were transferred to traffic duty for weeks after Hurricane Sandy.

While fewer tickets were issued, illegal trash dumping at the city’s 25,000 litter baskets is on the rise, local authorities say.

Lots more garbage all over Jamaica

"The powers to be love to throw around “Vibrant & Diverse” in describing Jamaica Queens. Well here is what your “Vibrant & Diverse” gets you, in just a radius of about 4 blocks. Councilman Ruben Wills is so on the money, it is the people, the extremely low class slobs who have invaded and taken over our community to make it look like some third world sh*t hole.

This is in front of some Tax and Accounting Service. Hopefully their accounting services are better than their cleanup of their storefront right down from Citi Bank.



Speaking of Citi Bank, this sh*t hole mess is right in front of Citi Bank and a bus stop.



Right across the street from the above mess , is this wonderful sight, the typical Jamaica sighting of a mattress. Did not know that Skylight Cellular was in the bedding business. See the low class third world immigrants walk by just like they are back home.



Another typical site, the overflowing garbage can (not the Asian guy). Considering these few blocks are “disgusting dirty Little Pakistan”, this should come as no surprise.



And another overflowing Hillside Avenue garbage can, this one with the typical household garbage that comes from the many illegal apartments in Jamaica. This is in front of the Guyana Palm Court Bar/Restaurant.



Right around the corner of the Guyana Palm Court and in front of Kahn’s Tutorial in the same building is this. When I reported this, the status (# 1-1-877910771) came back as “The Department of Sanitation investigated this complaint and found no violation at the location.”



And in front of the typical low class third world sh*t hole apartments that litter Jamaica is this mess. I am not sure which mess is worse the garbage or these ugly sh*t hole third world apartments.



The usual dumping ground in front of the empty lot at 170-19 89th Ave that has been going on for several years and nothing seems to be happening to the owner.



So there you have it, from 169th Street and Hillside Ave to 171st Street ending at 170th Street and 89th Ave. In these few blocks I see several violations, but yet, the same day I was talking photos, I was the one who got a ticket for riding my bike on the sidewalk off of Archer Avenue, since there are no bike lanes and that street is a notorious dangerous one, but yet the police officers felt the need to sound their siren and ride up on the corner and issue me a ticket.

So here is your “Vibrant and Diverse” Jamaica (I guess when you cannot come up with any thing really good about the community, you go for the standard “Vibrant and Diverse” in your publicity, because “Sh*tty and Low Class” probably is not a good selling point.

But congratulations, Jamaica Queens is now officially a third world country and a really sh*tty third world country.

Am I the only one who thinks that Jamaica has a really major garbage problem and that nothing is being done about this? Or are you all okay with this damn mess everywhere?"

An unacceptable situation

From Clean Up Jamaica Queens:

While riding my bike Sunday morning, I encountered several garbage strewn places (many illegal dumping and most of the spots have been reported numerous times).

Take a good look at our community:

1. Our Post Office (listed on the National Register of Historic Places) at the corner of 164th St & 89th Ave.



2. Post Office Parking Lot at 164th St & 89th Ave. This has been piling up since last week and I wondered how long it would stay like that.



3. Lot next to 170-18 Liberty St, or as I like to call that block, “Ghetto Row”.



4. What appears to be an empty house at 103-24 171st St.



5. The next two photos are a house at 104-11 171st St that I have reported several times.





6. The next three photos are an empty half built building next to Mike’s Towing at 115-45 Merrick Blvd right across the street from the Northeastern Conference of Seventh Day Adventists Administration Building and a few blocks from the beautiful Roy Wilkins Park. It is obvious this has been an illegal dumping ground for a long time and obvious nothing has been done about this.








7. And here again is the notorious empty James Fobb house at 107-58 108th Ave, which has been reported for two years now.






8. The bus stop at Merrick Blvd & 108th Ave, a major spot for dropping off household garbage.



9. Over flowing garbage cans at SE corner of Jamaica Ave & 170th St. A constant problem.

Now does anyone reading this think that this is totally acceptable? Would any of this be acceptable in a majority white area? So why is this acceptable in a community of people of color? Is it that people of color do not deserve to live in a nice area, is that it, but white people are.

Again this is a combination of some of the majorly low class ghetto people we have in our community, a major lack of enforcement by DOS, poor leadership from our top officials down to our community boards and upstanding citizens of our community either ignoring this, thinking this is the norm or not doing something as small as reporting these places to 311 and calling your local officials.

Yesterday, I was at a screening of the film: Hip Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes put together by Art, Food & Soul and presented at the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning. Afterwards I talked to several of the people in attendance, many young and open-minded artists in our community who want a better Jamaica and they talked about the conditions of our community and what it looks like and they were not happy about it at all.

And this is why the perception of Jamaica is the way it is. The perception is REALITY!

So why is NOTHING being done about this? Why I am constantly reporting on these conditions, many that are the same areas over and over again?

What else? Garbage!

Jamaica certainly has an endless supply of “garbage photos” thanks to the low class slobs in the community, our ineffective leaders, Mayor Bloomberg’s huge budget cuts, especially for Queens (including major cuts to sanitation) and a lack of enforcement of sanitation and litter laws already on the books.

Here are my garbage photos of the week, courtesy of low class ghetto slobs, slumlords and low class property owners.

This damn mess at 166-11 91st St, which is a constant on-going problem, is right in the downtown area (a half block from Jamaica Ave on Merrick Blvd), right next to a parking lot entrance (the site of the whenever $50 million retail project), near the police station, right across the street from the beautiful former Valenica Lowe’s Wonder Theatre (Tabernacle of Pray Church) and right next to their Tabernacle Bible Institute & Book Store at 90-07 Merrick Blvd. A number of complaints obviously has resulted in NOTHING.


I love this shot here of the same house. No matter how much of a low class slob you are, you certainly make sure you have your DISH TV. From the looks of it, there are at least 5 families tossed into this house, which I am sure there are illegal apartments to boot and a few other families thrown in. You know what this shit smells like during the hot and humid weather……………………………….and wait till you get a whiff of the garbage too.

Another chronic problem at the apartment building at 90-21, 90-23, 90-25 170th St. Again this has been reported numerous times. You see what good that is doing. This lot at one time had a nice one family house, now it is a four story and at least 16 family third world shit pile, thanks to zoning.


So, is this the “Jamaica Revealed” and the “Vibrant and Diverse” Jamaica I keep hearing about. Is this what you call revitalizing Jamaica, because my version is a little bit different.

In all the articles about Councilman Leroy Comrie (Jamaica District 27) dropping out of the Queens Borough President race, he stated and I quote, “I am looking forward to serving the people of Queens—in one capacity or another—for a long time to come.”

Well, Mr. Comrie, here is one capacity that you can begin with. You can start serving by putting on some gloves and getting your ass over to these chronic garbage sites and bring your little buddy Ruben Wills with you. Yes, Mr. Wills, you are so right when you said “it is the people” (which these photos prove without a doubt), but a total lack of enforcement of the sanitation and litters laws is also a huge problem.

What the fuck, I don’t get this shit, it is not brain surgery or curing cancer.

I am now in favor of total gentrification of Jamaica! You all have had your chance, but you all have failed miserably.

Bowne Park update

From 10am until sundown on Friday after the original Bowne Park post was put up, I received reports that parks workers were there in droves addressing the nasty conditions present. Here is an update:

Inaccessible garbage pail out of reach within the fenced-off area, surrounded by garbage chucked over the fence – check!

Unnecessary second bocce court construction project on target for mid-2014 completion – check!

Scummy, dirty broke-down pond – check!

Gee - mowing the lawn did not entirely eliminate the neglected, sorry atmosphere at Bowne Park – go figure!

The first ever Jamaica Cleanup Protest

The first Jamaica clean-up protest took place on Saturday, June 29th. Although small, it was a very vocal and very angry crowd about the garbage problem, the people who cause it and most importantly our elected leaders who have failed miserably with this issue and let the community really go to hell. Not one elected official turned up to march at the protest or even show their face, which was covered by NY1, the Queens Chronicle and the Queens Press.

Three candidates running for office did make appearances. Sondra Peeden, running for Councilman Leroy Comrie’s seat, Jon Torodash, running for City Council in Kew Gardens and Everly Brown, running for Queens Borough President. Both Torodash and Brown marched the entire way from 171st/109th Avenue through South Jamaica via 108th and Guy Brewer to Jamaica Avenue and ending at 89th Avenue/168th Place. Torodash, who is not even from Jamaica came to show his support, but no where to be found where Councilman Leroy Comrie (his district 27 is one of the worst), Assemblymember Vivian Cook (I still think she has been dead for several years), Ruben Wills, William Scarborough or the grand dame of incompetence, Queens Borough President Helen Marshall.

So let me take you on a most interesting tour of just what we saw on this march.

Before I even get to the beginning of the march at 171st St/109th Ave, I encounter these wonderful sights:

I step out my building and walk a few feet down 170th St near the empty lot at the corner of 170th St/90th Ave and encounter the classic low ghetto garbage, chicken bones galore, with a side dish of rice. Our little dog, Teddy, would have had a field day if he was with me.



Then at 170th & Liberty the “plastered all over the place signs” on telephone poles, fences and trees greets me about carpet cleaning and I am totally shocked by this sign……………………………low class ghetto and low class third world immigrants clean their carpets.



Next the big Jamaica epidemic (and no I do not mean diabetes). I am talking about cars without license plates and/or registration stickers which is a huge problem in Jamaica as you will soon see by the photos. This one was at 170th St/Liberty Ave.


Then another one, with a South Carolina license plate and no registration sticker taking up space at 171st St/104th Ave.


Yet another one at the corner of 171st/104th Avenue. By the way it is illegal to cover a car on city streets. This particular one has no license plates or registration, flat tires and the front is demolished. I reported this to DOS several days ago and it still sits along with another one a few cars down.



Right across from the car above is an empty lot that just several days ago had garbage and several mattresses tossed on the street. I reported it, it got cleaned up and then just a few days later, more garbage. There is even more there, you just cannot see it with all the high weeds (and not the good kind). Keep in mind I am riding my bike and still have not even approached the initial protest spot at 171st/109th Ave.

Another sign. A call to the number revealed a gentlemen of Middle Eastern descent who told me the company is Priceless Realty based in Florida. Do any of you leaders or city officials even look into this kind of shit.



Another car, this time an out of state license, no registration. Again this is illegal. But this is Jamaica and Queens, where really nothing is enforced.


Ah, surprise, another car.

And another.


One more. This one with a California plate but no registration and it looks like it has been sitting here for some time.


And this beauty, which the woman who lives across the street has been complaining not only about this one, but all the others and the auto repair place next to this vehicle, which she stated they place many of these smashed up cars there, but alas her calls lead to no where. Hmmmm, wonder if this would be tolerated in Chelsea or the Upper East Side or Long Island City or Forest Hills or a white community?

And here is the auto repair that is responsible for some of these cars but not all. Hey Comrie, all this fucking shit is in your district. How about lifting a finger on this issue or are you too busy looking in the mirror at the not soon to be Queens Borough President job.


Wow, I finally reach my destination for the march, the notorious abandoned playground (owned by Crown Realty owner David Landau of Brooklyn) at 171st St/109th Ave to find garbage all over, high weeds and a pile of something near the fence.

On closer inspection, the pile is broken up concrete and blocks,  dumped I am sure by Pedro the Handyman.

While waiting for my fellow protesters to show, I notice another “For Sale vehicle”, with no license plate and registration. But I am bored waiting for my comrades, so………………………………


I decide to give it the Clean-Up Jamaica Moretti treatment, broken wipers, broken side mirrors, and garbage to top it off. I think the value of the vehicle has dropped down, so if anyone is in the market…………… After my customized job, two police officers come by in a patrol car, I flag them down, tell them about this illegally parked car and the others. They tell me they have some other business to take care of down the street but will send someone to take care of it. It is 9am, by 4pm, it is still there. I call the number on the vehicle, but it is hard to understand the heavy accent, but something about his brother, blah, blah, blah.

My comrades in arms finally show (wow, I am already exhausted). Some interviewing with NY1 (it airs Saturday night) and the Queens Chronicle and meeting some people takes place and then we being the March up 171st St.

We march up 171st, turn on 108th, work our way across Merrick Blvd into the hell hole called South Jamaica, that our elected leaders have totally abandoned all together.

Tomorrow, in Part Two of the March, more abandoned cars, a hell of a lot of garbage, abandoned homes, a crack/prostitution house, and some majorly low, low, low class ghetto people mixed in with the even more low class third world immigrants of the Middle Eastern and Pakistani background.

Tomorrow you will enter the hell hole known as South Jamaica, that even Lucifer himself would not dare enter.
